In a concerted effort to strengthen community ties and advance urban development, Luxembourg City has introduced the ‘Year of the City’s 24 Districts’ initiative. This program aims to collaborate with residents, associations, business owners, and local interest groups to create ‘Quartierspläng’—development plans tailored to each of the city’s 24 districts.
The initiative is guided by the ’15-minute city’ concept, striving to ensure that essential amenities are accessible within a 15-minute walk or bike ride. This approach seeks to enhance the quality of life by upgrading public spaces and fostering vibrant, self-sufficient communities.
To gather input and ideas, the city has organized several engagement activities:
Online Survey
Residents are encouraged to participate in an online survey to share their perspectives on improving daily life in their respective districts.
Apéri’tours
Starting in mid-May 2025, the College of Aldermen will host Apéri’tours meet-ups. These sessions aim to collect feedback, address concerns, and discuss potential improvements directly with community members.
Ideation Lab
This event brings together residents, entrepreneurs, and association representatives to collaboratively develop innovative solutions for neighborhood enhancement.
The ‘Year of the City’s 24 Districts’ underscores Luxembourg City’s commitment to inclusive urban planning and community-driven development. Residents are encouraged to actively participate in these initiatives to help shape the future of their neighborhoods.
